One thing I’ve learned about Eagle Nation in the last few years is that they are rabid about their Team RWB Gear…in a really awesome way. As such, we’ve found it’s important to communicate far and wide whenever we make a change that relates to gear, so please read below.

To begin – here’s a bit of context:

• In 2013, we opened the first Team RWB owned store. We did it to provide our members a chance to get high quality Eagle gear, at reasonable prices – it was never about generating revenue.

• Due to our amazing members, the store grew massively over the last few years – it’s turned into a very substantial e-commerce business.

• Our mission and focus is enriching Veteran’s lives, and the gear operation has become so big that it is taking large amounts of our organizational resources (manpower and capital) to operate it, and thus away from our programs.

• Hence, we made the decision to move away from owning our own store, and work with a partner that is not only an expert in e-commerce, but also a huge supporter of our mission. This will allow us to focus on what we do – Enriching the lives of America’s Veterans.

Therefore, we’re excited to announce that our amazing friends at GORUCK will be taking over our Team RWB gear operation, starting May 15th. This will be a big win for us, as it removes financial burden and allows us to focus on our programs, and will be better for our members as our store will be run by GORUCK’s team that lives and breathes this every day.

If you’re not familiar with GORUCK, check them out. They are a veteran-owned, American business that knows and serves the veteran community. They are already a great partner of ours, and we’re excited to deepen the relationship.

Here’s the important stuff:

• We will still be working with our partners at Nike, and plan on continuing to send Nike shirts to new Veteran members as long as we are able. Our plan is for these same red shirts to be sold via our new store as well so that members can buy our standard red Nike shirt if they want.

• Over the next 60 days we will be selling all of our remaining Team RWB owned inventory and shutting down our store. Go here for some big sales in the coming weeks.

• GORUCK will be designing, producing and selling an updated lineup of Team RWB gear via a new storefront that they will run. Their merchandise is awesome, and we’re excited. I know everyone is going to love it.

There are likely a lot of questions out there about the specifics of what will be available via the new GORUCK site (color, size, etc.). Those decisions have not been made yet, but we will share widely as soon as they are finalized.

In closing, this is an exciting time for Team RWB. We’re more excited than ever about our programs, and expanding our relationship with GORUCK will allow us to attack them with more ferocity. Thanks for all you do to be a part of it.

All I see on the GORUCK website is clothing designed for men. Will the line for Team RWB include clothes designed for women?

Yes! Our joint store will have gear for both women and men.

Hope you do some sizes over 4xl? Not everyone is in super shape, yet…

GoRuck doesn’t do sizes over XL for most of their stuff.
Their pants only go up to a 36.
Will they be carrying the larger sizes?

Hi Kelly – the gear will continue to be with Pactimo for the near future. No changes here!

Can we get an answer on the bigger sizes? I have asked on Instagram, email and see that others have asked here and the question never gets answered. Actually, I was told you were working on it by one response before the announcement to join with GoRuck.

The only shirt I can wear that is RWB in my size is the Red Eagle shirt. I want to represent RWB on my daily walks and my weekly walk with the VA but RWB and even GoRuck do not carry shirts over a 2xl and I am a 4xl.

Will you carry bigger sizes for your veterans that are bigger?

      JJ said:

Hi Sal! We’re still working through what the assortment will look like at our new store. We’ve got some flexibility in what we offer, for sure – it does not have to be just what GoRuck currently carries.

We’ve got weekly meetings right now working through the transition, and I’ll make sure we discuss this next week and start looking for good options for larger sizes! Thanks for reaching out!

Same issue for women. Nike sizes run small and it’s really not cool to reply “buy men’s sizes.” Neither Nike or Team RWB should be defining “woman” as “small person.” We want 2x and 3x on women’s cuts, please please please. Otherwise, the message is “you’re not part of the team till you’re fit”.

  • March 30, 2017

    JJ said:

Pamela – thanks for the note. I’m sorry that’s the message that you feel like we’re sending – that’s not it at all – we want everyone to be part of the team!

One of the reasons that we’re making some changes in how we’re doing gear is so that there is more flexibility in what we offer, to include flexibility in sizes. We don’t have the new line-up figured out yet, but we’ll make sure to try to get the sizing as diverse as we are able to as we get it figured out!

    Thanks!

Thank you! I can’t express enough how painful it is to be told, essentially, “you’re too big for our definition of a woman” and whether you meant to or not, that’s what happens when we see women’s sizes that cap at XL or when someone shrugs and says “well Nike doesn’t offer bigger sizes” or “maybe get a men’s shirt instead.”

I am keeping my fingers crossed that Team RWB can conquer the inclusive sizing challenge. Thank you!

JJ Thank you so much. I have to agree with Pamela that having sizes that do not fit those of us bigger individuals it does unfortunately send a message to veterans looking to get involved the message that you have to be fit to fit in.

I personally was one of those because I am big and do not run. Until I showed up one day because somebody told me they would walk with me at an event. That was almost 2 years after I “joined” the team.

I work with veterans in the VA Weight Loss MOVE Program in Cincinnati and that is one of the things I hear from them, Team RWB is not for us because we do not look like the pictures we see or their shirts are not in my size. Even though I am standing their in front of them in the same position as Team RWB.

It is great to hear you guys will work on this for us. That really means a lot. And it is exciting. Hopefully I will continue on the path I am on and will fit into 2xl again, but until then I would love to represent the Eagle!

I’m excited to see the line-up of gear in the new store. In addition to GoRuck and Nike gear, I presume we’ll still be able to get gear from other partners like Pactimo and HeadSweats. I have some ideas for other gear from other potential partners – items not currently offered that I know Eagles would love! Whom can I send my ideas to? (No, I don’t have any financial interest in the products/companies I would be suggesting. It’s just cool stuff that I’d love to see emblazoned with the Team RWB Eagle!)

PLEASE offer brands other than Nike!! As a smaller, short woman Nike’s sizing is way off and does not fit me. I LOVE the fit of the prior New Balance gear. It is disappointing to not be able to support RWB through merchandise. As others have stated, “adult”/men’s size is not an acceptable option, however similar styling (for example, just a regular women’s hoodie with no thumb holes, etc.) could be. Please have more diverse options!

The new store is up! But the standard red Nike shirts are not available (unless you wear a 2XL or 3XL). It has been months since the standard red Nike team shirts have been available in all sizes. What gives?

      Shaun Provost said:

Good question! All sizes of the red shirts are currently on order and will be sold by GORUCK as soon as they arrive this summer.

Do we have any updates on when the red performance shirts will be available on GORUCK? I still have not seen anything.

    Lacey B said:

^^ Same question? Red shirt availability? There are currently no ladies running/tech options except a singlet.

  • August 30, 2017

    Elsa Cave said:

The lack of Red running shirts is starting to become an embarrassment for our Team. I have had several new and not-so-new members approach me at events and ask about the shirts. They want to wear the Eagle when they run and none of the shirts/sizes available on the site are conducive for running. Because our red shirts are so prominent (great branding) at these events, wearing the shirt is very much linked to being a part of the Team. Maybe it shouldn’t be that way…but it is. And all I have seen is promises, delays, and more promises. When is leadership going to get involved and resolve this issue? It’s been 3 months now since we went live with Go Ruck and even longer if you count when inventory started to dwindle in the old storefront.
