Family Friendly Grapevine Canyon Hike, Plus Christmas Tree Pass
08:00 AM - 03:00 PM PST
777 W Lake Mead Pkwy, Henderson, NV 89015
Meet at the Fiesta Hotel and Casino
777 W Lake Mead Pkwy
Henderson, NV 89015,
in the North East Corner Parking Lot
Difficulty: Very Easy
The Plan: We will meet at the Fiesta Hotel and Casino, in the north east corner parking lot, then drive 1 hour and 20 minutes to the Grapevine Canyon trailhead parking lot. From the parking lot, it’s a fairly easy quarter mile walk/hike to see the petroglyphs. There are plenty of rocks to climb up on, up and over. This is kid and dog friendly. Feel free to bring plenty of water and snacks. But, if you pack it in, you pack it out.
For those with a more adventurous holiday spirit, we will caravan up the road to Christmas Tree Pass to see the many trees that people tend to decorate up there. You might even want to bring some of your own decorations. To get to the top of Christmas Tree Pass, you need a high clearance vehicle. Those who don’t have high clearance vehicles can most likely carpool with those who do jeeps, trucks, SUVs, etc.
Safety: This is a very easy hike to the petroglyph area. Then, there’s lots of fun rock climbing. Exercising reasonable care and caution, you should be just fine. If you bring kids or dogs, just make sure you keep an eye on the kids and the dogs on a leash. The weather will most likely be cool, so plan to dress in layers, wear a hat, bring sunscreen, etc. Make sure you check the weather before you leave.
What to Bring: In addition to the above, feel free to bring water, snacks, sun glasses, camera and your sense of fun and adventure.
