Quilts of Valor With Sew Mates
10:00 AM - 03:30 PM AKST
11700 Old Glenn Hwy, Eagle River, AK 99577
In Honor of Veteran's Day, please join the ladies of "Sews Mates" (they represent Eagle River, Chugiak, and Peters Creek) at the Boys & Girls Club as they make Quilts of Valor (QOV) to cover service members and veterans touched by war.
These are the areas where they could use our help:
*Iron the fabric flat (there will be 2 irons & 2 ironing boards)
*Cut fabric into squares
*Make cards that are sold to raise money for QOV
*If you know how to embroider...please volunteer to help!
*If you know how to sew using a sewing machine ... please bring your own sewing machine. They would love for you to help sew!
ALL supplies will be there, except the sewing machine. There's someone running each area and will show you what to do.
The ladies will provide a yummy lunch (Thanksgiving theme) at 12:30 pm....we don't need to bring anything, except our appetite!
Bring the kiddos too! There's a pool table, air hockey, foosball, board games, etc... or they can bring their own toys.
***You do not need to stay all 5 hours. Drop in to help for as long as you can...they appreciate any help we give them***
The picture is of my friend of 6 years, Retired Lt Col Marc Stella, 93 years young, who was a pilot during WWII. He received his Quilt of Valor on Jan 11, 2018. It was an Honor for me to attend his ceremony ♥
Please let me know if you have any questions... Thank You for enriching the lives of our veterans!
