SLC Marathon “Fake” Flag Relay
7:00 AM - 8:00 AM AKDT
1735 Sunnyside Ave S, Salt Lake City, UT 84108
For the past several years, our chapter has participated in the SLC Marathon by doing a flag relay. Last year, the marathon was cancelled. This year, it is virtual. But, let's have some fun and do a "fake" flag relay on what would have been race day - April 10th! Wear your Eagle. Bring your flag and your Eagle fire! Be prepared to run, walk or ruck all or part of this 5K course. This is a free Team RWB event. Optionally, you may register for one of the SLC Marathon virtual events. Let's meet at 0830-0845 at the parking area of Sunnyside Park near the corner of Sunnyside Ave and Valdez Dr. From there, starting at 0900 we'll cross Sunnyside Ave and head south on Valdez Dr/Diestel Rd to 900 S. Then, we'll head west along 900 South past Liberty Park to 200 East. Then, north on 200 East to the marathon finish line at Washington Square, near 400 South and the library. The entire route is a 5K (3.1 miles). If you're not up for the full 5K, you can join us at Mile 2, at the north entrance of Liberty Park. This is an informal event. The roads are not closed for us, so stay on the shoulder and/or sidewalks and be safe! Depending on how many people show up, we'll divide into ability run groups and a walking/rucking group. COVID-19 info: Not everyone is fully vaccinated yet. So, we encourage you to wear a mask when we're together in a group (start and finish) and to practice social distancing. You may remove your mask while running, once we've spread out a little.
