"Known as Guardians of the Flame, law enforcement members and Special Olympics athletes carry the “Flame of Hope” into Opening Ceremonies of local competitions. They also carry it into Special Olympics State, Provincial, National, Regional and World Games. There are over 97,000 law enforcement members that carry the “Flame of Hope” annually. Help us provide support and engagement for our community members with needs as the Oswego Police Dept. travels with the torch. We will meet at OPD at 9:00am and run along the route provided. Please wear your red Eagle shirt if you have one.
The 3.1 mile route is as follows:
- Start at OPD
- South on W. 2nd to Utica
- Utica St. to Hillside Ave.
- Hillside Ave. to 104
- 104 to E. 1st st.
- E. 1st to W. Utica
- W. Utica to W. 2nd and end at OPD
