Happy Holidays, Eagle Nation!

The end of 2018 marks my sixth year with Team RWB.  When I reflect back on that time, this year stands out as one that I will always remember.

We’ve accomplished some monumental things as an organization, which will set us up to serve even more veterans in the months and years to come.

Over the last 12 months, two milestones stand out to me as game changers for Team RWB.

  • We published a manuscript in a well-known and respected medical journal detailing the Team RWB model that delivers positive outcomes for veterans every day. This article was the culmination of a 5-year effort by a large team, and we’re incredibly proud of it and the world-changing implications it offers.
  • Behind the scenes, we changed our entire technology ecosystem in an effort to better serve our members. It was humbling to receive recognition at Dreamforce, the world’s largest nonprofit technology conference, for the work we are doing to reach more veterans and communities.

I am proud that we’ve continued to stay focused on our core mission to serve veterans in a meaningful and impactful way. Our members continue to amaze us with the incredible things they do, including:

  • Safely and successfully completing our longest Old Glory Relay yet, moving a single American flag over 4,300 miles in 62 days.
  • Delivering Team RWB programs in 200 chapters across the country and generating more than 325,000 veteran interactions.
  • Hosting more than 37,000 events this year – the equivalent of more than 4 events held every hour! Wow!

And unfortunately, we experienced tragedy like never before, as two Team RWB Eagles were tragically killed at the Borderline shooting in Thousand Oaks. We continue to honor their memories in all we do, and we are truly humbled by the outpouring of support and love that we have experienced from Eagle Nation and our partners.

  • Dan Manrique – Team RWB staff member and long-time Eagle Leader.
  • Justin Meeks – Eagle in our Ventura Chapter.

When I reflect on the past year, the overwhelming feeling I get is one of gratitude. Gratitude for our amazing Eagle Leaders who run this organization and enrich the lives of America’s veterans on a daily basis. Gratitude for the amazing members of Eagle Nation, whose fierce motivation inspires me on a daily basis. Gratitude to the amazingly supportive American citizens, who came out of the woodwork to support Team RWB during the above tragedy. And gratitude to our donors and partners…the individuals, businesses, and organizations who support Team RWB. We couldn’t do it without you.

Thanks for a great 2018, and fasten your seatbelts for 2019. The best is yet to come!
