I hope each of you were able to enjoy the holiday season and had a wonderful time celebrating with your family, friends and loved ones.

As we step into 2018, I wanted to take a moment to offer my personal thanks for your incredible support and dedication in making 2017 another amazing year for the organization. We will soon have our annual report to share, but I wanted to take this moment to celebrate a few of 2017’s accomplishments!

I am confident in saying we are leading the way in support of veterans and communities across the nation. We have more than 130,000 Eagles in 212 locations, including almost 2000 active volunteer leaders – simply amazing. I cannot thank our volunteer leaders enough for keeping our Chapters thriving.  The work you do is incredible, and here’s a few preliminary highlights:

  • More than 210,000 hours were volunteered in communities around the country, and we’re certain there are countless more that didn’t get reported!
  • Together we generated close to 155,000 local interactions by veterans!  This is critical, because we know that the more a veteran shows up, the more enriched their life is.
  • We hosted 38,855 events this year, where I know relationships were formed and deepened to ensure a greater impact on the lives of all of our members.
  • Through national events like Run As One, Eagle Charge, WOD for Warriors, and our largest event, Old Glory Relay, we brought communities together to celebrate and share in the power of TRWB.  More than 10K people participated in the Old Glory Relay alone!

If the above wasn’t enough, we ended 2017 by turning the key on a 2-year long project to update all of our technology, to include our new website and a CRM platform.  We look forward to the coming months, where we will leverage these exciting new platforms to make us better and more professional as an organization, in addition to improving the member experience.

On a personal level, after close to 5 years as the Deputy Director, I took over in late spring as the Executive Director of Team RWB – I could not be more humbled and inspired to be leading this organization, and will continue to do my very best in support of our members.

In closing, our mission remains as important today as it did the day we were founded.  While we celebrate what the organization achieved in 2017, we’re focused on bringing even more #EagleFire to more veterans in 2018, and thus enriching the lives of America’s veterans in a huge way.
