Military Veterans, Supporters to Move from Sunrise to Sunset on September 11
On September 11, 2021, thousands of veterans and supporters will unite in their communities, and virtually, to move American flags from sunrise to sunset as part of Team Red, White & Blue’s (Team RWB) 9/11 Moving Tribute, sponsored by Humana Military and Peraton.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of events that changed our country forever. Thousands of Americans lost their lives in the attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and United Airlines Flight 93 on September 11, 2001.
That day defined the military service of many Team RWB members or was the reason they chose to serve. Team RWB’s moving tribute is an effort to preserve the memory and support the veterans who served as a result of 9/11.
“The 9/11 Moving Tribute is an opportunity to recognize the significance of September 11 on our military community and our country,” said Mike Erwin, Executive Director of Team RWB. “We’re honored that our supporters and partners are joining this effort to preserve the memory of those lost on that day and support those who served.”
Team RWB’s 9/11 Moving Tribute offers veterans and civilians alike an opportunity to ensure the memory of that day and the legacy of those who have served.
“Honoring those we serve is a core value at Peraton. Our employees, including 4,000 veterans, take great pride in supporting service members, first responders and our national security,” said Matt McQueen, Peraton’s Chief Communications & Engagement Officer. “We are proud to extend that support by participating in Team RWB’s 9/11 Moving Tribute on the 20th anniversary, and remembering the lives lost and changed on that day.”
Participants can register and pledge to run, walk, or hike miles virtually or as part of a local Moving Tribute at teamrwb.org. Limited edition commemorative shirts are available for purchase with registration. All proceeds will benefit Team RWB to support post-9/11 veterans.
“Humana Military is proud to partner with Team RWB on our joint mission to build resilience and improve health outcomes for military families,” said Andrea Newton, the Director of Military Health and Resilience at Humana Military. “As we approach the 20th anniversary of September 11, we are deeply honored to support this year’s tribute to unite to solemnly remember the military and civilian lives that have been impacted and honor their sacrifices, so we may never forget.”
