Saturday Spotlight: Ashley Coleman
Chapter: Team RWBP JBLM
Motto: “Dream Big, Work Hard!”
Why Did You Join Team RWB?
“I joined Team RWB as a way to connect with my community outside of the day to day grind that is military life. Team RWB appealed to me because anyone could join and participate in events. One thing I absolutely love about Team RWB is that if you don’t see something that interests you, you have the ability to create an event that does interest you and invite others along to pursue your passion.”
What has Been Your Favorite Event or Experience with Team RWB?
“It is so hard to choose a favorite as I have had a blast at every event! The most meaningful experience I have had is being a mentor for the Veterans Court in my area. I love that as the Veterans Engagement Coordinator for Team RWB I am able to show up and support my fellow veterans in their struggles, I am able to show them that they do have a support system and that Team RWB is a versatile outlet for whatever life has handed them.”

How Do You Serve Your Community?
“I serve my community in a lot of ways, but my absolute favorite thing to do is volunteer. There are so many wonderful people out there and by volunteering I am able to meet them and put a smile on their face. I currently am a member of Big Brothers Big Sisters, Habitat for Humanity, Soroptimist International, Team RWB, and Veterans Court. My plate is full, but I genuinely believe that we should leave the world better than we found it and I am simply trying to do my part.“
What Inspires You?
“I am inspired by risk. Starting something I have no idea how to finish, witnessing people go for something new, anything that has the potential for failure makes my soul smile.”

How Has Team RWB Impacted Your Life?
“Team RWB has impacted my life in a way you could not even begin to fathom. I have had more than my fair share of struggles in my short 32 years of life. While Team RWB hasn’t been there for all of them, they have a way of helping me heal through all of it. Team RWB has allowed for me to be on the receiving end of advice and care, but has also allowed me to provide advice and care. The connection that forms with other members of Team RWB is wondrous.“
What Would You Say to Someone Who is Thinking of Joining Team RWB?
“Give it a shot, worst scenario is you meet a few new people and get out of the house for a few hours. Best case scenario you meet life long friends and experience things you never could have dreamed of. I would guarantee we have some sort of activity that interests you – hiking, biking, rollerblading, rock climbing, yoga, stair climbing, running, walking, eating, craft nights, and so much more. And if none of those peak your interest, let’s set something up that you would like to do and we will come along with you.“
