Saturday Spotlight: Bernadette Baker
Chapter: Team RWB Lehigh Valley
Motto: “She thought she could so she did…”
Why Did You Join Team RWB?
“To work with veterans. The whole concept about bridging the gap appealed to me since I come from a family of veterans.”
What has Been Your Favorite Event or Experience with Team RWB?
“I actually have 2. Runner’s World Half Marathon 2015. We trained together, we ran together, & we finished together. This led to NY Run for the Fallen… I, along with 3 of my teammates, ran from Syracuse, NY to Albany, NY, honoring our fallen each mile. The entire team consisted of 17 runners, 4 teams of 4 with a fill in runner. We ran as one, we ran because they can’t, we Honored & Remembered each fallen Hero from NY one mile at a time.”
How Do You Serve Your Community?
“I am the Social Director for the LV Chapter. I help plan & organize events for our team.“
What Inspires You?
“The selflessness of our veterans. The selflessness of the civilians on our team. It does not matter if you are a veteran or a civilian, we all matter.”
How Has Team RWB Impacted Your Life?
“Team RWB has taught me what a team is. How to work together to help each other and anyone who needs help along the way.”
What Would You Say to Someone Who is Thinking of Joining Team RWB?
“You won’t be sorry. Team RWB bridges the gap between our veterans and civilians. Team RWB brings us all together as one. Team RWB enhances our lives. Once you make connections with Team RWB you will always have someone you can count on.”
