Chapter: Southcentral / San Antonio

Motto: “It will all work out – you might not like it, but it will all work out!”

Why Did You Join Team RWB?

“I had seen the red shirts out at events in the community, and wondered what that team was all about. After Google directed me to the Team RWB website, I was able to understand more of what the red shirts represented. A little more digging led me to the local chapter, where I got lucky and found someone planning a run in a neighborhood close to me. As a veteran and a longtime member of a couple of other running groups in the San Antonio area, something close to home was a nice change. I also wanted to get Ann involved in a group type training atmosphere since she had never belonged to one. It only took a couple of nights getting together with the group and two new Eagles were born.”

What has Been Your Favorite Event or Experience with Team RWB?

“I have so many favorite experiences with this Team I find it difficult to list only one! Becoming an Eagle Leader, organizing activities, partnering with other local groups for runs, and rides to name a few. I get a new favorite anytime I meet a new Eagle and get a chance to hear their story and welcome them to the Eagle Family.”

How do you serve your community?

“Through Team RWB, I am able to serve my community, and the members in it. As an Eagle first, I was able to be there, for activities and events, and set the groundwork for building new relationships with other Eagles. As I got more involved, and became an Eagle Leader, I am able to serve this community by lending my hand in the operations of our chapter, organizing events and activities, and being a key piece in the chapter leadership, that volunteers countless hours to bring Team RWB San Antonio the events and activities it does.”

What Inspires You?

“My inspiration comes from many places. My family inspires me to be a better person, My son inspires me with his determination, focus, and drive to reach the goals he has set for himself (he will be one of the Assistant Drum Majors for the Goin Band from Raiderland this year, and one of the Head Drum Majors next season) Ann inspires me, with her selflessness and caring. The Eagles I meet everyday inspire me with their stories, and their “Why’s”.”

How has Team RWB impacted your life?

“Team RWB has given me the chance to serve in a way a lot of other people do not get to. It has given me a chance to connect with people, build relationships, and make friends with people that I may not have otherwise met. It has allowed me to lead a group of people in one of the best cities and best chapters in the country, and in doing so, we impact others lives. The ability to do that has had the biggest impact on me as a member of Team RWB.”

What Would You Say to Someone Who is Thinking of Joining Team RWB?

“I would tell them not to think, because once they join the Team and get the courage to get out and meet other Eagles, they will understand that it was one of the best choices they have made. It costs nothing to join (free is always good), and in the end, they will gain more by having joined, becoming active, and getting out and in touch with other Eagles. So quit thinking about it, just do it!”
