Saturday Spotlight – Fran & Stan Drozdz
Chapter: Southcentral / Phoenix, AZ
Motto: “Fortune favors the bold. Do good.”
Why Did You Join Team RWB?
“We were attending our local Pat’s Run and were met with a sea of red shirts. We reached out to an individual that was wearing the shirt, who happened to be the founding Chapter Captain for Phoenix. He talked to us about our local chapter, events, and the organization’s mission. We were immediately sold on Team RWB’s purpose and wanted to get involved as soon as possible!”
What has Been Your Favorite Event or Experience with Team RWB?
“Just one?! There are so many great events that I don’t think we could simply pick one. Some of our favorites include our monthly socials, participating in the Veteran’s Day parade every year, volunteering at food banks, attending Diamondbacks baseball games, foot golf, and setting up flags on the Tempe Healing Field in honor of 9/11.”
How do you serve your community?
“We strongly believe in serving our community, and we do that outside of Team RWB also. We are involved as members of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, we volunteer on various committees at our Greek Food Festival, and we provide aid and volunteer at women’s shelters supplying families that are hurt by domestic violence. As we are both cancer survivors, we work with many cancer charities, are members of Philoptochos (friends of the poor) at our church, and do many charitable events for Greek families, including those who have suffered from the recent fires.”
What Inspires You?
“Stan is a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he flew F-4 phantom jets followed by F-16 falcons. He is so proud of his service, and continues to be inspired by the dedication of our military service members. Fran believes that everyone wants to do good, and is inspired by those who provide service before self.”
What Would You Say to Someone Who is Thinking of Joining Team RWB?
“We tell people to JUST DO IT! We love the organization’s mission, and think that there are events for every age, every disability, and every passion. We believe our veterans deserve the very best, and being a part of an organization like Team RWB gives everyone the opportunity to give back to veterans.”
