Chapter: Team RWB National
Personal Motto: “You have power over your mind — not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.” ― Marcus Aurelius, Meditations
Why Did You Join Team RWB?
“I’ve been out of the Army for nearly a decade now, but the experience will forever be a part of who I am. Shortly after leaving the service, I was working in the private sector and really missing the sense of larger purpose in my life that I had during my military service. A friend of mine started Team RWB in that same window, that it filled a need that I had in my life at that moment. The fact that I’m still around 8 years later should indicate how much it has meant to me.”
What has Been Your Favorite Event or Experience with Team RWB?
“There have been so many amazing experiences the last 5 years, that it’s hard to pick – but attending Rock Climbing Camp in Estes Park, CO has to be one of my favorites. Not only did I get to experience the mountains in a new way, but I was also introduced to Rock Climbing, an endeavor that I’ve learned to love. Most importantly, I met some amazing Eagles that I still have relationships with.”
How do you serve your community?
“As a Team RWB employee, I spend virtually all my time trying to facilitate people serving in their communities – but it’s on a national level. It’s amazing, but I also really enjoy serving at a local level where I live in southern Indiana, where I’m involved in youth sports. Primarily, I’m a board member of our local youth wrestling club, which has been a lot of fun.”
What Inspires You?
“Finding inspiration around me is easy, when you’re surrounded by the caliber of people that I am on a daily basis. Between our Team RWB staff, amazing Eagle Leaders, and fired up members – inspiration is ever present and easy to access. I’m also the father of 3 young children, and seeing them navigate life is incredibly inspirational. Finally, I’m married to an amazing woman who keeps our family ticking, and she’s inspiring, as well.”
How has Team RWB impacted your life?
“Team RWB has affected my life at every level. As a member, I’ve gotten to be part of an inspirational movement that makes me feel like I belong. As an Eagle Leader, I’ve met some amazing people here in my hometown of Louisville that I otherwise never would have met. As an employee, I’ve been humbled to have meaningful work serving people I care about every day for the last 6 years. It’s been incredible all around.”
What Would You Say to Someone Who is Thinking of Joining Team RWB?
“That’s easy. Do it. The key to almost everything in life is action, and this is no different. If you join and participate, your life will be better – period. You’ll meet people that you wouldn’t have otherwise, you’ll have better health, and you’ll have the opportunity to keep serving. Win, Win, Win.”
