Chapter: Houston, TX – Southcentral

Motto: “The longer I’m here, the shorter I have to go.”

Why Did You Join Team RWB?

“When I joined Team RWB I was actually working with another veteran service organization, REBOOT Combat Recovery. We invited Team RWB to come talk to our veterans about the program so we could have a warm hand off after they graduated the course. After hearing what Team RWB was doing, I was immediately hooked and knew I had to join.”

What has Been Your Favorite Event or Experience with Team RWB?

“I can’t limit my answer to just one favorite experience or event. There have been so many. Team RWB has given me the opportunity to meet so many great individuals all with different stories and different goals. That’s what excites me about this organization. A moment that sticks out to me, though, was being nominated by the chapter leadership to be represented at a Houston Astros baseball game.”

How do you serve your community?

“I am currently the Social Director for the Houston Chapter. Being able to coordinate events and bring veterans, other veterans organizations and the community together for a common purpose is extremely exhilarating and heart warming to me. Also, being able to work with other organizations to accomplish their goals is amazing as well.”

What Inspires You?

“The most inspiring thing to me is seeing veterans come out, being a part of the community, setting goals, whether that’s running a marathon, running a triathlon, running a 5k, rucking, and then watching them achieve those goals and beyond. Another thing that inspires me is no matter where you go, there are Eagles there welcoming you to their chapters and their events.”

How Has Team RWB Impacted Your Life?

“The biggest thing Team RWB has given me is another family. I moved to Houston at the beginning of 2017 and everyone I have come in contact with has been amazing! Team RWB has given me more opportunities to do things I never thought possible. I’ve met people that I consider family, I’ve done things physically I never thought about doing prior to Team RWB. Team RWB has been an integral part in my mental and physical health.”

What Would You Say to Someone Who is Thinking of Joining Team RWB?

“Do it! Come to a fitness group, join us for a social event, meet up with us for coffee. The excitement I see and hear about when people get that red shirt with the Eagle on it is amazing. Everyone from members that have been around for a while to new members are all welcoming.”
