Saturday Spotlight: Keith Baker
Chapter: Team RWB Midwest
Motto: “Everything will be ok in the end. If it’s not ok, it’s not the end.”
Why Did You Join Team RWB?
“When I joined I had been out of the Navy for almost 20 years. What I always missed was the camaraderie that I had during my service years 1987 to 1993. I was able to not only reconnect to like minded people but also use the Team as a catalyst for my running and find that “espirit de corps”
What has Been Your Favorite Event or Experience with Team RWB?
“So many memories in such a short time but my favorite would have to be participating in the Marine Corps Marathon two consecutive years. So much support in getting there (Facebook training groups) and AMAZING support from local Eagles. Getting to know Eagles from other communities and sharing this experience with them.”
How Do You Serve Your Community?
“I am the Chapter Captain for an Organizing area Lafayette Indiana. Our Fire is “White Hot” we are volunteering at a Local Food Bank on a monthly basis. Supporting each other in our training, running, cycling (when weather permits), yoga, these are just a few of our activities.“
What Inspires You?
“Individuals with the determination to improve their situation. Specifically my Daughter and my Nephew. Both of them are accomplishing great things in their lives. In a time when either could have easily allowed the the magnitude of “Life” to overwhelm them, they have made a choice to keep moving forward. Watching them succeed makes it easy for me to continue my journey.”
How Has Team RWB Impacted Your Life?
“The Team! The Team! The Team! No, I’m not a Michigan fan but I am a fan of this message and being part of something bigger. Team RWB allows me that opportunity, it drives me to be more than I have been and what I will be.”
What Would You Say to Someone Who is Thinking of Joining Team RWB?
“Isn’t it time? time for you, to be a better you? Let us help you complete that mission. Participate in one thing a month and you have made an impact, even if it is in your own life. It’s Our (Your) Turn!”
