Chapter: Mid-Atlantic/Lexington VA

Member Since: May 2015

Motto: “Mind Over Matter.”

Why Did You Join Team RWB?

“I had just moved to the Lexington area, and my boyfriend had just joined Team RWB and told me about it. I thought it would be a great opportunity to meet new people since I was new to the area. And boy was I right! After finding out about it, I looked into what Team RWB stood for, and since I have a lot of active-duty military and veterans in my family, and since I work for a military college, I was excited to find out how I could give back to veterans in my community!”

What has Been Your Favorite Event or Experience with Team RWB?

“Traveling to Fredericksburg for the Marine Corps Marathon Historic Half and Semper5ive! I’ve gone with a group of LexVa Eagles for the past two years, and it still amazes me to see such community among Eagles. Just by wearing the shirt you can guarantee that you are going to get “Go Eagle” encouragement during your entire race. It’s just great to see so many strangers encouraging one other! It truly is an “Eagle Family.””

How do you serve your community?

“I was the Community Outreach Director for nine months, and I’ve been the Chapter Captain for the Lexington, VA Team RWB chapter for about a year and a half now. Being a small group in a small city, my leadership team and I plan and attend every event that we have. For the past 2.5 years, I’ve been to our weekly run ALMOST every single Wednesday evening. We make it a point to have this weekly activity, as well as at least one social activity each month so that we are providing our members with consistent opportunities to spend time with each other. Through Team RWB, I get to serve my community even further by volunteering at local races and community events whenever we have the opportunity.”

What Inspires You?

“My fellow LexVA Eagles inspire me! We are a small group, but the dedication of our members is unparalleled. Seeing all that they do for our team and this organization inspires me to be the best possible leader and person that I can for them!”

How Has Team RWB Impacted Your Life?

“I have met some of my closest friends and so many amazing people through Team RWB! The connections I’ve made are priceless. I now have a group of people in my life that I know I can count on for anything!”

What Would You Say to Someone Who is Thinking of Joining Team RWB?

“Join! It doesn’t matter if you are a veteran or civilian, Team RWB is for everyone! You’re going to get something out of it no matter who you are!”
