Why Did You Join Team RWB?

“I was not in a good place when I found running. As running became my outlet and helped me, I figured it would help other veterans also. In researching a way to get this started I found Team RWB and as I read more about them I realized they were filling that void so I jumped at the chance to join them. Fitness to me is an outlet and I know it can be for many others.”

What has Been Your Favorite Event or Experience with Team RWB?

“Both the Eagle Leader Academy (Chicago 2018) and Eagle Leader Ruck Camp (Columbia MO 2018) were amazing. To be with other leaders with the the same passion to help veterans was quite the experience. When we showed up, very few people knew each other but by the time we left, we had started life long friendships.”

How do you serve your community?

“I serve my community by being that person that a someone in crisis can talk to. Someone to listen to you when that is all you need. It is easier sometimes to talk with someone that you don’t know personally. At first it was hard for me, but as a leader you have to open yourself up.”

What Inspires You?

“I am inspired by seeing someone push through adversities in life to become a better person. This could be someone completing their first 5K after losing a lot of weight or even someone who has struggled with PTSD finally break out of their prison and reconnect with others. Knowing how hard it is when “life gets in the way” to get back in to the swing of things, makes seeing these accomplishments even more gratifying.”

How has Team RWB impacted your life?

“Team RWB has impacted my life by bringing me back into the fold of being part of a team. After I retired from the Marine Corps I pretty much stayed away from everything military. I missed it enough that it was just easier. By joining Team RWB I was able to get that sense of camaraderie that I was missing.”

What Would You Say to Someone Who is Thinking of Joining Team RWB?

“If you are thinking about joining Team RWB I would tell you to just do it. Then make sure you attend a couple of the weekly events and some socials as quickly as possible. You thought about it for a reason and we are here for you. Someone in our team has been where you currently are.”
