Saturday Spotlight: Robbin Alex
Chapter: Team RWB Omaha
Member Since: November 2012
Motto: “If my mind can conceive it, my heart believes it, then I can achieve it!”
Why Did You Join Team RWB?
“When I retired from the military there was missing something in my life. After retirement I continued to work in a Military Treatment Facility and loved it. Yet it was not the same as when I was active duty; you were part of the team yet not part of the team. Team RWB brought back what was missing-the camaraderie of being with other veterans, being part of team greater than you. Everyone was part of the team no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Wearing the Eagle is Awesome!”
What has Been Your Favorite Event or Experience with Team RWB?
“Old Glory Coast to Coast Run-Carrying the American Flag while running across the mid-west having people speed by honk, yell “‘Merica!,” and being part of the bigger picture for Team RWB.”
How Do You Serve Your Community?
“Helping Veterans one-on-one. TeamRWB is my family. Not necessarily being the same bloodline, but a group of people who will show up and be there no matter what tries to get in the way.”
What Inspires You?
“There is such a passion amongst all the people in their communities, it’s a total sense of pride and ownership in Team RWB. I am proud not to just be a member but a leader. It’s red, white, & blue to the core, which is easy to relate to as a veteran, & it’s all about the guy or gal next to you.”
How Has Team RWB Impacted Your Life?
“Living the Eagle Ethos; Passion-caring, working harder and sharing Team RWB’s Story, People-working with Veterans & Community members in our Community, Positivity-not letting a challenge stop me, finding a solution and making it happen with our Team. Commitment-the dedication of the leadership team to make our mission happen in the community, Camaraderie-the genuine personal relationships we develop, and Community-how we build this at each level from one-on-on Eagle Engagements to working in our Community to make improvements (Habitat for Humanity). I am proud to wear the Eagle!“
What Would You Say to Someone Who is Thinking of Joining Team RWB?
“To serve my country was an honor, and helping Veterans is something I have done all my life. Running my first 5k with my Team RWB shirt, carrying the American flag, and thinking about how it was my turn to ensure all veterans were connected to other veterans and their community – being part of Team RWB? That is a greater honor.“
