Saturday Spotlight: Ryan Taylor
Chapter: Team RWB – Midwest/Ann Arbor Chapter Captain
Member Since: June 2013
Motto: “Never give up!”
Why Did You Join Team RWB?
“I joined Team RWB at a point in my life where I felt lost, that I was missing something, and that I did not belong anywhere. It was through a random bike ride encounter when I met Brian Logan, a Navy veteran who told me to come check out Team RWB. The following weekend I went to my first RWB event and my life was forever changed! I immediately felt a strong connection and felt that I was exactly where I should be.”
What has Been Your Favorite Event or Experience with Team RWB?
“My favorite experience with Team RWB was August 2015 when I rented a 15 passenger van and drove 12 Eagles to Chicago from Ann Arbor for a GoRuck 5k and overnight social! What made it so special is that it brought 12 Eagles together who before the weekend were mostly strangers. There were Eagles, both veteran and civilian, from multiple chapters across the state, that came together as one that weekend. We forged bonds and relationships that remain strong today! Even though I almost tipped over the van suddenly pulling into a coffee shop the trip was a complete success!”
How Do You Serve Your Community?
“I started out at the Team RWB Ann Arbor Social Director in March 2014 and took over as Chapter Captain officially in March 2015.”
What Inspires You?
“What inspires me is the desire to give back! To keep the Eagle Fire burning! Team RWB has had such a positive impact on my life and it continues to do so. Everyday I hope to pay it forward, one event, meeting, Eagle Engagement at a time!”
How Has Team RWB Impacted Your Life?
“Team RWB has impacted my life in many ways. From Eagles being there to pick me up during some incredibly challenging times in my personal life, to celebrating achievements that I never thought possible! It is simply amazing to be surrounded by so many positive and encouraging people. The relationships that I have formed since joining Team RWB are as powerful as family. And that is what I feel Team RWB is, one big family!”
What Would You Say to Someone Who is Thinking of Joining Team RWB?
“Come out and see what we are all about! We having something for everyone! Are you looking for some high-fives, smiles, laughter, and guaranteed good times? Then look no further! No matter what your interests are, from volunteering, social events, physical fitness, small groups, to large groups, you will feel welcomed!”
