Motto: “I have two… “Make it happen.” and “Be part of the solution.'”

Why Did You Join Team RWB?

“I joined this great organization to become closer with my brother and to embark on ambitious physical challenges with him. We were both looking for opportunities to get physically active and be leaders in our communities as he was transitioning out of the military and I was gearing up for a career change. It just so happened our founder and friend, Mike Erwin, introduced us to his organization at the exact time we were ready to dive right into something together and Team RWB became the springboard to our collective enrichment. Since then, we’ve raised money for the Team, and have run marathons, Ironmans, Ultra-Marathons, and have had many more exciting adventures together.”

What has Been Your Favorite Event or Experience with Team RWB?

“RAGBRAI, (Registers Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa). This event encapsulates all that is best about Team RWB! Approximately 20-30 Eagle members (more if you join us next year) from all across our country ride together for 7 days through the State of Iowa. 10,000 riders participate in the event of all different riding abilities. This physical challenge is accompanied with meaningful social engagement all throughout the week. We eat meals together, share laughs, challenge ourselves, and enjoy summer as a Team. Some Eagles choose to ride one day, or a few, and some ride all 7 days. It is truly a party on wheels and a community centered event as you take mandatory stops several times each day to eat, relax, and engage with Iowans. Join us next year and see what it’s like for yourself!”

How do you serve your community?

“I’ve had the privilege to serve Team RWB members for many years now. First as Athletic Director in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Then in Chicago as Chapter Captain. Next as Regional Director all throughout the Midwest. And currently I serve as the Director of Programs while living in Grand Rapids, Michigan. While the majority of my volunteer time goes towards Team RWB now, I’ve had the chance to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, Special Olympics, Umpiring for Little League Baseball, and Coaching Basketball with the YMCA.”

What Inspires You?

“Effort to improve. Any Eagle or citizen that puts in work to improve their physical or mental health, no matter what their condition, by challenging themselves to attend an activity and share part of themselves inspires me. Team RWB allows veterans and America citizens to show their authentic selves and do so in an encouraging environment where others want you to put forth a little bit more effort than the day before to improve your physical and mental health.”

How has Team RWB impacted your life?

“Team RWB has brought me endless opportunities to grow as a leader, husband, friend, brother, coach, athlete, and so much more. I’m humbled by all that Team RWB has provided me and my family. I can proudly say that I wake up each day with more health, people, and purpose than I had before I joined the Team. The quality of individuals that make up this team impresses me and their ability to not only talk about how they are impacting lives but to show up and give part of themselves to impact others lives.”

What Would You Say to Someone Who is Thinking of Joining Team RWB?

“Join us! Make it happen! Be part of solution and show America that our veterans are leaders in our communities and that health, people, and purpose is the backbone to an enriched life. Our members participate and show their Eagle pride in a variety of ways and we want YOU to join us! Who wouldn’t enjoy a group of FIRED UP Americans that want you to be the best version of yourself. You’ll quickly find that what you give of yourself to the Team will be returned to you by your new Eagle Family.”
