Team RWB engages veterans, supporters through virtual 1776 Challenge
This summer, Team Red, White & Blue is hosting its second annual 1776 Challenge, presented by Comcast NBCUniversal. The epic 18-day physical challenge brings veterans and supporters together virtually and in their communities to focus on service, personal growth, and the joy that comes from doing something hard with others.
The 1776 Challenge kicks off on June 17 and runs through July 4, 2020. New exercises will be shared through the Team RWB App every day, featuring demonstrative videos hosted by Team RWB’s corporate and nonprofit partners. Demonstrations will include modifications for various fitness levels and mobility. Additional adaptive exercises will be demonstrated by retired Army Sergeant First Class and Paralympian Centra “Ce-Ce” Mazyck, a recipient of TrueCar’s DrivenToDrive program.
The challenge follows Team RWB’s ongoing effort to offer veterans a way to stay active and connected from home during the COVID-19 pandemic. In May, the organization reached several milestones as a result of those efforts, including 100,000 virtual engagements in 2020 and over 40,000 Team RWB App downloads.
“During these chaotic times, Team RWB has been working hard to support the health and wellness of our nation’s veterans,” said Mike Erwin, Executive Director of Team RWB. “The 1776 Challenge is an opportunity for veterans and supporters alike to support those who served our nation through functional fitness. We’re thrilled and thankful for our partners supporting the initiative this year.”
To join the challenge, veterans and civilians are invited to download the Team RWB App available in the Apple AppStore and GooglePlay, or visit Team RWB’s virtual events page for daily exercises. Participants who complete each challenge and check-in through the app every day will be entered to win one of 700 free 1776 Challenge patches.
