Team RWB opens Firebase in Atlanta
On September 24, 2019, nearly 100 veterans and veteran supporters gathered in Atlanta to celebrate the grand opening of Team Red, White & Blue’s Firebase.
Team RWB knows that countering isolation is critical to supporting veterans throughout their post-service journey. The Atlanta Firebase will serve as a hub for veteran activity in the metro area that puts the Team RWB mission in motion.
Attendees enjoyed refreshments, networking, and participated in a formal ribbon cutting led by Team RWB Executive Director, John Pinter. The space includes a functional fitness gym, office and meeting areas, and a lounge and kitchen.
To help kick off the conversation, representatives from the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Team RWB, and JPMorgan Chase spoke about how public-private partnerships and spaces like the Atlanta Firebase are breaking down barriers for veterans.
“There are many different dialogues around veterans, You have the hero and the broken, but many of us are somewhere in between,” said Megan King, Team RWB Chief Advancement Officer. “The only real way to start breaking down that civilian-military divide and misunderstanding is to get to know each other.”
Team RWB is where all veterans belong. This amazing space supports Team RWB’s mission of enriching veterans’ lives and will host core programs focused on engaging veterans and supporters within their communities. Team RWB is proud to support the veterans who lift the nation and build bridges across the military-civilian divide through physical and social activity.
“What better place to break down those barriers than a hub of activity like this, where you can do a functional fitness workout, or just gather up front. We’re excited to get this space open and share those great stories coming out of Atlanta to continue to fuel what’s going on across the nation,” said King.
