Week 6: Old Glory Relay 2018

In Week #6, Old Glory has traveled for 38 Days, 2,364 Miles, and through 16 states (MA, RI, CT, NY, NJ, PA, DE, MD, OH, MI, IN, IL, WI, MN, IA, NE)

Old Glory has racked up almost 2,400 miles this year! With just over one month down and one month to go, Eagles across the nation are keeping up the fire as we move closer to the finish line in San Diego.

On Day 32, the Old Glory Relay presented by Microsoft continued to weave the country together in support of veterans as the flag passed beautiful farmlands and headed into her last city in Wisconsin – Diamond Bluff!
The Twin Cities chapter has supported the Old Glory Relay for the past five years, sometimes by traveling over hundreds of miles to captain days not even remotely close to Minnesota. This year, the relay split their neighborhood and they gladly took not one, not two, but three days on the course, despite cold winds and colder snow storms! Huge shoutout to all of the Twin Cities Eagles whose passion, dedication, and commitment connected hundreds of communities across the nation!
The team continued to brave wind and cold to deliver Old Glory to the Mall of America in force! Heartfelt thanks to Brigadier General Johanna Clyborne of the Minnesota National Guard for joining us, and to the Mall for hosting our end-of-day rally!
For their third and final day on course, the Twin Cities chapter brought Old Glory across the border into Iowa. Frigid temperatures and snow didn’t cool their spirits as they connected communities through biking, running, and walking town to town, state to state.
Team RWB Des Moines cycled and ran to their hometown from Clarion, Iowa during Day 36. Old Glory saw another great football stadium as the team ran her through Iowa State.
When chapters from Team RWB Louisiana come up to Iowa, they don’t play around! Taking their cue from the windmills, they moved like the wind as they carried the flag from Des Moines to Anita on foot and bike, lifting Old Glory over 60 miles in one day.
Congratulations to this week’s top three fundraisers and winners of the long sleeve Nike Team RWB shirt: Scott Bock, Ruth Taylor, and Nathaniel Robinson!
We’re so thankful to all of you who lift Old Glory and help us connect communities across the nation, supporting veterans with every step! Week 7 will bring Old Glory to Colorado and the United States Air Force Academy. Remember, it’s not too late to sign up or to donate. Join us today!
