Executive Director

Mike Erwin founded Team RWB in 2010 and served as the organization’s first Executive Director until 2013.  He continued to chair the Board of Directors until 2016, and returned as Executive Director in 2019.

Mike is a 2002 graduate of The U.S. Military Academy at West Point where he was commissioned as an officer and went on to serve three combat tours with the First Cavalry Division and 3rd Special Forces Group.  Mike continues to serve the nation as a Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves, assigned to the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he is an Assistant Professor. He is the co-author of LEAD YOURSELF FIRST by Bloomsbury Press (2017).  Mike and his wife Genevieve live on a 32-acre farm in North Carolina, where they raise their five young children.

Deputy Director

JJ Pinter is the Deputy Director at Team Red, White, and Blue. As Team RWB’s 2nd employee, he has played a key role the development, growth, and operation of the organization. JJ works closely with board members, staff, and volunteer leaders to ensure the delivery of excellent programs that deliver impact. He provides strategic guidance in addition to building and managing critical partnerships.

JJ is a West Point graduate and combat veteran, serving as a Field Artillery officer. After his military service, he held both leadership and analytical positions in the construction, defense and medical industries. He currently resides outside Louisville, KY with his wife and 3 kids, where he loves to coach youth sports and be outdoors with his family.

Director of Operations

Brett SanPietro is the Operations Director, based out of Chicago, where he lives with his wife Lara and dog Riley. Prior to returning to Chicago to join Team RWB, Brett lived in Boston, Washington DC, and a few places overseas as a Foreign Service Officer with the US Department of State.  Brett served on active duty in the Army as an infantryman, including a deployment to the Horn of Africa region.  Since then he was commissioned as an intelligence officer in the Army Reserves and later the Navy Reserves, where he still serves.  Brett has an MBA from The George Washington University and a BA in political science from the University of Illinois at Chicago.  Originally from the Detroit area, Brett and his wife Lara are thrilled to return to the Midwest (which Brett has always considered home).  Brett enjoys running, hiking, long distance biking, and any indoor activities with friends from happy hour to board games or just some good old fashioned D&D (Dungeons and Dragons). As a strategic leader with nearly two decades of experience crafting communications across multiple industries, organizations, and continents, Bana now guides Team RWB marketing and branding initiatives as the Chief Marketing Officer. Bana graduated from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and Martin J. Whitman School of Management with degrees in public relations and marketing management. When she’s not on a soapbox defending the Oxford comma, you can find Bana exploring the nearest national park. An Army spouse of over 15 years (and 11 PCS moves), Bana lives with her husband and four children outside Seattle, WA.

As Director of Technology, Mark is responsible for the management and strategy of Team RWB’s technology ecosystem.  Previously, Mark spent 12 years at Chatham Financial, a global leader in risk management advisory and technology solutions. He held a variety of roles, including derivatives consulting, marketing, technology, and CRM.  Mark earned a BS in Economics from the United States Military Academy and spent the first five years of his career on active duty as a Field Artillery Officer in the United States Army. He currently resides in North Dallas with his wife Dayanne. Mark and Dayanne have 5 boys: Devante, DJ, Michael, Horatio, and Theodore.  Mark enjoys family time, basketball, and bass fishing.

Director of Finance

Laken Stutzman is Team RWB’s Director of Finance and a long-time member of Team RWB. In addition to the daily financial management of Team RWB, her responsibilities include budgeting, revenue forecasting, cash flow accounting, financial analysis, payroll, and employee benefits. She is a University of Louisville graduate and former Division I field hockey player.

Laken is a long-time accountant with significant experience in non-profit finance and auditing. When she’s not crunching numbers or reformatting spreadsheets, you can find her spending time outdoors in the garden or scratch-cooking meals. She currently resides in Southern Indiana with her husband, Dustin, and their three children.

Nita Pennardt joins Team RWB as Financial Manager (A/R)/Director of Gratitude. She is primarily responsible for receivables processing and the development and maintenance of a comprehensive gratitude system.

Most recently, through Redhead Consulting, Nita has worked with contact-center and technology organizations to help them improve the effectiveness and efficiency of their operations and drive improved performance through highly engaged associates.

Prior to forming Redhead Consulting, Nita spent 22 years with Coca-Cola Enterprises Inc. (CCE). As Vice President, Customer Development, she lead the inception and provided strategic leadership to a four-site Customer Development Center supporting sales and service for customers across CCE’s North America Business Unit. At CCE she also served in a diverse range of roles including Florida Division Vice President of Cold Drink Sales, Corporate Internal Audit Director, Senior Information Systems Manager, and Corporate Manager of Employee Communications.

Nita received her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. She is a Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Fraud Examiner, a Chartered Global Management Accountant and holds the Senior Professional Human Resources designation.

Nita resides in Bradenton, Florida, with her husband, Werner. She enjoys participating in a variety of activities including paddle boarding, motorcycling, fishing, running and triathlons. She is a Certified Level 2 PaddleFit Coach.

Georgina Biehl first joined Team RWB as a volunteer leader for Team RWB Texas and was later hired as Director of the Southcentral Region. Previously, she spent ten years working for Fortune 500 companies, most recently as the Director of Corporate Development serving the Oil & Gas Industry. A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Georgina earned her BS in Mathematical Sciences and completed graduate studies in Public Administration and Organizational Development. Upon leaving Active Duty, she spent four years working as a Manpower and Organizational Consultant for NATO in Sarajevo, Bosnia Herzegovina. When she’s not wearing the Eagle, she spends her time fostering puppies with a local rescue in Houston. She is originally from Mexico City but moved to Texas as quickly as she could!

Chris has been involved with the Fairbanks, AK chapter since 2014 and in 2018 was selected as an Eagle Leader Fellow for National Strategic Projects. She has a professional background in human resources and holds a Master’s degree in Management – Leadership and Organizational Effectiveness from Troy State University.
Chris likes to refer to herself as a professional military dependent, as both of her parents served and her husband is currently serving. Born and raised in Florida, she and her husband, Ron, call Alaska home and raise their two girls in their Lincoln Log house. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, Yoga, and cherishes any time spent outdoors, regardless of the weather.

After being selected as a fellow through the Hiring Our Heroes Salesforce Fellowship program, Lindsay joins the team as a Salesforce Administrator. She earned her Bachelors Degree from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and worked after graduation as a Special Event Coordinator for triathlons and marathons throughout California, including Nike Women’s Marathon, the Wildflower Triathlons Festival and the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon. Prior to Team RWB, she served the military community as a Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society Personal Financial Case Manager and in several USMC Family Readiness roles. Lindsay is a military spouse that resides in Hawaii with her husband Blake and two daughters. With the beach only a couple of miles away, she enjoys snorkeling, swimming, hiking, and relaxing on the sand.

John provides accounting services and processes payments for Team RWB’s staff, regions, and chapters. He is a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel with B.S. and M.S. degrees from the University of Virginia. John had two deployments to Southwest Asia as a Field Artillery officer and served as an analyst and West Point professor. Since leaving the military, he has performed systems engineering and research consulting, conducts leadership training, manages a B&B, and co-owns a Virginia farm.
John is also the social director for the West Point chapter of Team RWB and enjoys running and other fitness activities. He resides in Highland Falls, NY with his wife, Tricia, son, Michael, daughter, Madeleine, and their Cavalier King Charles, Captain Molly.

Lani Faulkner has served with Team RWB as a Southeast Regional Program Manager, Daytona Chapter Captain, National Community Engagement Director, Southeast Regional volunteer, and current Daytona Athletic Coordinator.  In 2016, Lani was selected as an Eagle Leader Fellow and received her ASSIST training and Executive Certificate in Leadership. A self-proclaimed “military brat,” current wife of a veteran, and mother of an active duty military son, Lani has dedicated much of her time to various military and veterans organizations.  Previous to Team RWB, Lani was employed in the fortune 100/500 financial investments industry as a licensed client service associate. In her spare time, you’ll find Lani training in triathlons, CrossFit, rucking, running, cycling, swimming, or yoga, or spending time with her beautiful family!

Margaret Britten joins the team after implementing public relations and social media strategies as Communications Director of the USO of North Carolina. She previously served as an account manager at a boutique communications firm in the Washington, D.C. area, working with nonprofit and corporate clients supporting the military and veteran communities. She holds a bachelor’s degree in public relations and policy studies from Syracuse University, and was named a PR Rising Star in 2016 by PR News. Margaret grew up in a military family, moving all over the world, and her husband is currently serving on active duty. She is a longtime member of Team RWB and enjoys traveling, gardening, jogging with her dogs… and documenting all of the above on her Instagram.

Jennifer Ward joined Team RWB as the Communications Coordinator in 2020. She graduated with a B.A. in Communications/English from Gannon University, and has since held an array of careers.

Jen was commissioned as an Army officer, serving in the Adjutant General’s Corps and specializing in Public Affairs for over nine years. After a decade of working in the pharmaceutical industry, she served as the assistant publisher of a local newsletter.

As a certified running coach and group fitness instructor, Jen loves helping others achieve their fitness goals. She loves a good slice of pizza, as well as baking (and eating) sweet treats! Jen lives in Maryland with her husband, their two boys, and two cats. In her spare time, Jen likes taking bike rides with her kids, running lots of miles, and reading.

Emily has been involved with Team RWB since running her first half marathon in February of 2012. She immediately identified with the mission of the organization since both of her grandfathers served in World War II and she is married to a West Point graduate and Army Veteran. Emily began her career in the nonprofit sector eight years ago as part of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, most notably directing the Scott Firefighter Stairclimb at the Columbia Tower in Seattle. Most recently she served as the Assistant Director of Corporate Partnerships at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

She obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Administration from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. She now resides near Boston in Hingham, MA and enjoys going for runs with her daughter and chocolate lab.

Erika serves as Team Red, White and Blue’s Corporate Relations Manager, building relationships with our corporate partners. She comes to Team RWB with 12 years of nonprofit experience in the military and veteran space.

Erika graduated from the University of North Florida and has focused her career on assisting in the transition of military personnel and their families. She has served as a career advisor and a Family Advocacy Educator.

Erika is married to a 12-year Navy Veteran, Justin, and they share 3 boys together. She resides in St. Augustine, Florida where she spends all of her free time at various fields watching her kids play baseball.

Nikki serves as Team RWB’s Individual Giving Manager, where she is responsible for the sustainment, growth, and stewardship of individuals giving to Team RWB. Her favorite part of her role is hearing the unique stories of Team RWB supporters and their motivations for being involved with the organization. Nikki graduated from the University of Wisconsin (Go Badgers!) and entered the world of fundraising, working for political campaigns and non-profit organizations before joining Team RWB. She is currently in her second decade of being a military spouse and is passionate about supporting military families and veterans as they navigate life during and after service. You’ll find Nikki enjoying free time with her husband Michael and kids Isla and Ian on foot, bike, at the box, or in the water as they pursue their collective love of endurance sports. She currently lives wherever the Air Force tells her to.

Mary joins Team RWB in the role of Grants Manager. She holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from University of New England and a Master of Arts in English from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. She teaches college English courses and volunteers with various community nonprofits including a local food pantry. She is a civilian Master Resilience Trainer through the US Army and is a Military spouse, dog mom, and distance backpacker deeply involved with the Appalachian Trail hiking community. She enjoys running on trails where she resides in Northern New York with her husband, John, and their two Labrador Retrievers, Hazel and Bettie. She’s originally from Ohio and loves hiking, camping, and snowshoeing.

Previously serving with the U.S. Army as a non-commissioned officer, Alec Rhodes is an Airborne Infantryman by trade.  After returning from his second deployment with the 173rd, he crossed paths with Team RWB and found a passion inside the health and wellness space, later continuing on to hold a Lead R&D position at Bear KompleX.  As Team RWB’s E-Commerce Manager, Alec is tasked with product research & development, brand collaboration, as well as inventory management to ensure that Eagle Nation always has the proper gear to show off their pride!

While the world of e-commerce never sleeps, his laptop occasionally does require charging.  Alec enjoys turning wrenches inside his garage, off-roading, Manion (Hero W.O.D.), as well as the company of his lovely wife Madilyn and their 2 crazy Boston Terriers.

Prior to joining the executive staff, Mollie served as a Marine Corps officer specializing in logistics and operations.  Her experiences include Asia-Pacific multinational military exercises, humanitarian disaster relief operations, and acquisition program management.  Mollie is a two-time gold medalist in the Armed Forces triathlon championship and was named the Marine Corps Athlete of the Year in 2016.  She earned her Bachelor of Science from the United States Naval Academy where she ran cross-country and track.  Mollie comes from a large family full of military service members, with two sisters, three brothers, and her husband all currently serving active duty. She now resides in San Diego, California with her husband Bennett.  She enjoys training for and competing in long distance triathlons and recreational back-country skiing, and surfing.

Prior to joining the executive staff, she was selected as an Eagle Leader Fellow for the Pacific Region, utilizing her fellowship to explore her passion for writing, and receive ASIST and safeTALK certifications. She has been a volunteer leader in the San Francisco chapter since 2014. As the sister of an Army veteran, Kris has a long history of veteran support, including assisting her brother in building his veteran mentorship program in the Northwest. She has a professional background in management and working with seniors for over twenty years, and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from California State University East Bay. A Bay Area native, Kris enjoys any time on the water, running trails, and walking the hills with her Border Collie, Cruiser.

Prior to joining Team RWB, Kian worked for Davenport University where he advised military and veteran students, making sure they used their military benefits to get the most out of their education. He was in charge of coordinating and organizing Veterans Day events, and assisted in creating a veterans’ lounge for military students on campus. Kian also served a tour in Iraq with the US Army doing convoy security from 2006-2007. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Madonna University. He currently lives in Wixom with his wife, Christina. During the summer season, Kian enjoys playing Gaelic football, soccer, and kayaking.

Caitlin has been involved with Team RWB since 2014, helping found the Oswego, NY chapter, and was selected to be a member of the Eagle Leader Fellow Class 003 as part of the Northeast region. Prior to joining the staff, Caitlin worked in international education, most recently as Assistant Director for Education Abroad at SUNY Oswego. She has a BS in Journalism from SUNY Brockport (NY) and a MA in College Student Development and Administration from Shepherd University (WV). Based in the DC area, Caitlin is a certified yoga instructor and loves all outdoor activities including skiing, triathlon, running, cycling, swimming, and rucking. Jessica is a member of the first class of Eagle Leader Fellows, and has been a part of Eagle Nation since 2013. Originally from Philadelphia, Jessica earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Pennsylvania. Jessica served in the Army as an intelligence officer for 6 years, including a deployment to Iraq in 2004 with the 759th Military Police Battalion. Prior to joining the executive staff, Jessica was a public high school history teacher and gym owner. Jessica currently resides in Philadelphia and enjoys yoga, meditation, trail running and travel.

Prior to joining Team Red, White and Blue, Alex worked in municipal government as a Project Manager, City Special Events Coordinator, and Program Manager. Alex is also a current member of the Army National Guard, with prior active service as an Artillery Officer where he led some of the Army’s only Arctic Paratroopers. The service of his Grandfathers, Dad, Sister, Uncles, and Cousin, is a great source of pride for him and set the foundation for his desire to serve. Because of his family’s service, and his own experiences, he is passionate about fostering relationships and making meaningful connections for veterans and service members that will help them live fulfilling and rewarding lives. He graduated from Gonzaga University with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, and commissioned from Gonzaga’s Army ROTC as a distinguished military graduate. Alex currently lives in Spokane, Washington where he lives with his wife, Ariel, their twin daughters, and their husky. His favorite pastimes include trail running and rucking, weight lifting, drinking fine coffee, and tea parties with his girls.

Amanda Rondon has been actively involved with Team RWB since January 2013. Previously, Amanda spent 12 years in the benefits administration outsourcing space as a Senior Technical Analyst, most recently at Willis Towers Watson as a Lead Business Analyst. Born and raised in rural southern New Jersey, Amanda comes from a family with a strong military tradition. Amanda is a graduate of La Salle University where she majored in Management Information Systems and was a captain of the varsity softball team. Amanda enjoys obstacle racing, triathlon, power yoga, playing soccer, and anything that involves spending time outdoors with friends.

Prior to joining the executive staff, Chris served a majority of his time in the Army as a Green Beret in 3rd Special Forces Group. After his time in the military, Chris worked as civilian supporting Special Operations for the next several years. Altogether, he conducted seven combat deployments and was decorated with the Bronze Star for Valor and was also presented the Congressional Veteran Commendation. Chris later owned and operated a small manufacturing company while volunteering as a Chapter Captain for Team RWB in his local community. He now resides in Texas with his wife and son and loves being outdoors, to include leading events as a GORUCK Cadre.

Aaron joins the team as Area Director in the Southeast. Aaron served in the Marines from 2004 to 2008 and returned home to Chicago to pursue his B.A. from DePaul University.

After college, he worked in the advertising industry before he founded a company to live his passion for connecting to nature.

Currently Aaron lives in Asheville, NC where he can’t get enough time on the trail and also serves as a Wilderness First Responder. In his free time you can find him hiking the mountains, searching for hidden swimming holes, and galavanting outdoors.

Ryan Ruzek is the Manager of Team RWB’s National Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. Prior to joining the team, Ryan served as an infantry paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division.

Ryan loves to play and watch baseball and football. His other hobbies include running, rucking, swimming, and just about anything outdoors.

Ryan’s homelife consists of spending time with his wife Zoe, daughter Lily, and two dogs Ozzie and Cali.

Thea, pronounced Tia, was born and raised in North Dakota. She lives in Bismarck with her husband Mike and is a very proud auntie to Brantley and Bailey. She was a part of the first class of Eagle Leader Fellows and has worn many volunteer hats for Team RWB over the past 7 years. She owns Thea Ward Fitness, a private training studio where she trains everyone from Vietnam veterans to the former Miss America. She holds over 14 specialty certifications and has won over 7 national awards as a fitness professional and for her impact in the community. After spending 6 years as a Public Affairs Specialist, she transitioned to serve as a Human Resource Specialist in the North Dakota Army National Guard.
Prior to taking the position with Team RWB, she was a 911 dispatcher for law enforcement and emergency services for over half of the state of North Dakota. She is a trained peer support specialist, crisis line volunteer, and advocate for mental health. She loves to travel, and is always up for a new adventure. In her free time she can be found rucking or running on trails, studying French, listening to Hanson, or messing with one of her cameras.

Doug McCormick is a Co-Founder and Managing Partner at HCI Equity Partners and oversees the origination, management and development of the Firm’s investments. Mr. McCormick leads the firm’s investment initiatives in the commercial aerospace, defense, distribution and industrial packaging industries. Before joining HCI Equity, he worked at Thayer Capital Partners and the Investment Banking Division of Morgan Stanley & Co., where he was involved in the completion of numerous mergers and acquisitions and acquisition-related financing transactions. Mr. McCormick previously served as a Captain in the U.S. Army’s 25th Infantry Division receiving numerous awards to include Runner Up in the 1995 Best Ranger Competition. Mr. McCormick received his Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and his Bachelor of Science in Economics from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

Paul Bell is an Operating Partner at Lead Edge Capital, a firm that invests in early-stage technology companies. He was previously an operating executive at Dell for 15 years, where he was President of the global Public Sector and Large Enterprise division and, earlier, President of the European business. Prior to his time at Dell, Paul was at the Bain & Co. consulting firm. He earned his MBA from Yale. He is an avid cyclist and pilot. He has flown over 25 missions for Veterans’ Airlift Command, flying wounded warriors and their families. He lives with his wife and three daughters in Austin, Texas.

“Dr. Jim” Ficke is the Robert Robinson Professor and Chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Dr. Ficke graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point and earned his M.D. at the Uniformed Services University.

After Orthopaedic residency, foot & ankle and trauma surgery training, he served in a number of Army posts. He was previously Chair of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation at San Antonio Military Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, and the senior advisor to the Army Surgeon General for orthopaedic surgery. Jim deployed to lead a Combat Support Hospital in Iraq in 2005 and has since led research and advocacy efforts nationally to improve outcomes for wounded warriors with combat injuries.

Jim retired as a Colonel in 2013 after 30 years of service in the United States Army and was selected as Chair at Hopkins. In addition to serving on the Board of Team Red, White and Blue, he currently serves as Chair of the Disaster Committee, American College of Surgeons, and the Board of Directors for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Jim is a lifelong endurance athlete and has been active with Team RWB since 2012. He has coached in Team RWB trail running clinics in Texas Hill Country. He is an active ultra-runner and advises on running injuries and prevention.

Joyce “JJ’ Jelks is the Head of Human Resources at Excel Sports Management. Prior to joining Excel, she was an HR leader at New York City Football Club (NYCFC), NJ Devils/Prudential Center and Brooklyn Sports and Entertainment. While seeking to master an HR focused career in the sports and entertainment industry, JJ also serves as a Major in the Army Reserves within the Inspectors General Office at United States Southern Command and is approaching her 20th year of service at the end of 2020. JJ graduated from her hometown university, University of Toledo, and later went on to complete her master’s degree in HR at Florida International University. JJ resides in the NYC area with her husband, Fred and son, Jalen.

Toby Johnson is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. She was commissioned as an Army Aviator and spent seven years on active duty as a Longbow Apache helicopter pilot. Toby deployed with the 3rd Infantry Division and was part of the initial invasion into Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003.

Upon transitioning from the military, Toby graduated from Harvard Business School in 2007 and joined PepsiCo, where she has had broad functional experience leading teams throughout the value chain. Her responsibilities have included leading manufacturing operations, driving productivity globally, owning sales relationships with some of the company’s largest customers, developing new products, packaging and consumer insights, leading large teams, and general management. She is currently a region vice president for Frito-Lay, a division of PepsiCo.

In addition to serving on the board of Team RWB, she is also a board member for the USO of New York City, and an executive sponsor for Valor, a PepsiCo employee resource group for veterans. Her passions include health and well-being, mentoring other leaders, and artistic outlets. Toby and her family split their time between Dallas and Philadelphia.

Dr. Jannell MacAulay spent 20 years in the US Air Force where she commanded the 400-member joint 305th Operations Support Squadron, was a professionalism and leadership instructor, and served as the Director of Human Performance and Leadership for the 58th Special Operations Wing. Most recently, she serves as a Human Performance consultant for the US Air Force, Department of Justice, and corporate America. Her latest venture is a partnership with Pete Carroll, the coach of the Seattle Seahawks & Dr. Michael Gervais, a world-class sports psychologist.

Combining their expert work with the NFL, Olympians, and the military, they’ve developed an effective, performance-based warrior mindset training experience for individuals and organizations called Warrior’s Edge. She is a graduate of the US Air Force Academy, has a Masters Degree in Kinesiology and a Ph.D. with work in the field of strategic health & human performance.

Dr. MacAulay is a certified wellness educator, yoga instructor, mindfulness researcher, and holds a certificate in plant-based nutrition. She is a mother of two, and a combat veteran with over 3000 flying hours as a pilot in the C-21, C-130, & KC-10 aircraft.

Mel graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1989 as a Second Lieutenant in the Field Artillery and served as a forward observer, a fire direction officer, a battery executive officer and as division assistant logistics and support officer with the 319thAirborne Field Artillery in the 82ndAirborne Division.  During his service, Mel also attended Airborne School, Ranger School, Jumpmaster School and Airborne Operations School.  Mel is also a combat veteran (Operations Desert Storm/Desert Shield). Captain Parker transitioned from the military in to the corporate world in 1994.

After leaving the military, Mel embarked on 20+ year journey in corporate America working for some of the most prestigious organizations in their industries. Some of the positions held include – President of North America(Brinks), Managing Director of North America(Aggreko), Vice President and General Manager of North America – Consumer/Small Business (Dell), Vice President Sales and Marketing – North America (Newell Rubbermaid), Vice President and General Manager of US Commercial Business (Corporate Express(Staples)), Gatorade Business Manager, Strategic Account Manager and General Manager (PepsiCo).  In the roles as President, Managing Director or General Manager, Mel has been responsible for successfully leading high performance teams of multi-billion-dollar businesses with up to 14,000 employees.

Mel has delivered leadership expertise through panels, seminars and keynote addresses, with a special focus on: Inspirational/Servant Leadership, High Performance Team Leadership, Transformational and Change Leadership and Crisis Leadership.

Mel currently serves on the Board of Directors for Vectrus (NYSE: VEC).  Vectrus delivers global infrastructure, IT and logistics services primarily to the Department of Defense.  Mel formerly served on the Executive Advisory Board Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Central Texas.

Coleman Ruiz is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy with a B.S. in Mathematics, and earned an MBA in Finance at the Government School of Business & Public Policy from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA.

He served six operational combat deployments in both Afghanistan and Iraq. He has served as troop commander, joint task force commander, and executive officer at various levels of Naval Special Warfare, and served in U.S. Embassies in both Yemen and Kenya. Coleman also served as a training officer at both the basic and advanced Naval Special Warfare (SEAL) training schools.

Coleman is a partner at Anchor Capital Holdings, LLC a special asset investment group in Annapolis, MD. Coleman is the Co-Founder and Director of Performance at the Mission Critical Team Institute, which develops research and practice for the selection and professional development of Mission Critical Teams.  Coleman is also an advisor and partner at the Liminal Collective.

He serves as a military advisor to Anacapa Partners, a search fund in San Mateo, CA, advising and supporting the development of their veteran “searchers” and business owners. Coleman has served as a trainer, educator, and advisor for over a dozen collegiate teams, and professional athletic organizations.  He serves as a U.S. Naval Academy trustee for athletic and scholarship programs, and serves as a Senior Fellow at the U.S. Naval Academy’s VADM James B. Stockdale Center for Ethical Leadership.

He lives in Annapolis, MD with his wife Bridget (also a U.S. Naval Academy graduate) and their three children, Coleman (age 18,) Ben (age 15,) and Oliver (age 11.)
